The aim of this essay is to discuss the issue of high presenteeism in organisation. The professor of Organization Psychology and Health, Lancaster University, Cary Cooper stated that the practice of coming to work despite illness, nervousness, injury or working long times at a job without the real need to do so named presenteeism (Quazi, 2013). High presenteeism has become a significant issue in most organisations, as it entails one of the notable factor on productivity. It is an issue which may provide adverse factors to organisations. This essay will clarify various work related factors and non-work-related factors, which may contribute to high presenteeism; define presenteeism; discuss the current issue of high presenteeism and provide two interventions to reduce presenteeism for organisations; justify both advantages and disadvantages of these interventions. Presenteeism also means that employees present on the job but somewhat absent in their mind or their behaviour (Brooks, A, Hagen, S, Sathyanarayanan, Schultz Edington, 2010).
